Barnabas Ministry is the  learning, understanding and implementing of the hidden language of woundedness that opens closed psychological hearts to true ministry.

Barnabas Ministry is an independent, interdenominational, multi-dimensional, multi-faceted people-helping, educational and discipleship and equipping operation that encourages, educates, trains, coaches, counsels, consults and equips individuals, relationships, churches and businesses. As the name implies, it is designed to equip others (leaders, managers, peers, friends, family or church members) to  come alongside people experiencing a variety of personal, relational, business and professional needs in a manner that is effective and caring.  

Barnabas for the Church is an intensive and extensive training program written by author, elder and Christian psychologist, Dr. Glenn Zaepfel, to equip encouragers and lay counselors for the work of the church and the needs of its people and neighbors. It also teaches how to reach people who are wounded and needy - or who are experiencing wounding life circumstances - and how to minister effectively to and through the local church community at the primary relational level of its people.  

Barnabas for the Neighborhood is this same program in action in the trenches of where it is designed to be implemented: your neighborhood. It takes the program directly to the hurting and wounded people of your church, work, educational or geographic neighborhood. It is the best option for hands-on ministry.

Church Counseling & Consultation allows assessment, mediation and/or intervention for church and clergy matters including personal and professional issues and/or  operational matters of dispute, disagreement or discontent. Additionally, assessment can be done to detect and repair potential problems before they create problems or further problems. 

           EMPOWERING           CHRISTIAN  OUTREACH

For use through the church; in local    neighborhoods; on the web; at work. Practical, hands-on equipping of the saints to reach the silently wounded person(s)* near you who otherwise is unknowingly missed but (falsely) assumed connected.

Barnabas Ministry is the practical equipping of the saints to apply God's grace to open closed psychological hearts to true ministry through the understanding of the language and world of woundedness.

*Every person carries varying degrees and amounts of woundedness and inner pain - some much more so than others. That woundedness plays a vital part in receptivity to everything and everyone.  Learn how to understand and overcome woundedness - without (Part 1)and within (Part 2). Welcome to Barnabas Ministry. The primary focus of Barnabas Ministry is to equip God's people for the work of the church in reaching others in a deeper, more effective way. It is for leaders and laity alike. It is intensive training in learning how to biblically come alongside others in a way that really penetrates while demonstrating the grace of Christ. There are courses, consultation and interactive supervisory capacities available.

The two main (12 week) courses are Barnabas Ministry I which equips God's people in ways of understanding and reaching people in today's world who are wanting someone to reach out to them but, at the very same time, are afraid of that same outreach. It also teaches how to effectively minister to those around us who are wounded or who may be experiencing wounding life situations.

Barnabas Ministry II focuses on the Barnabas minister as a helping agent in order to understand one's own abilities and potential psychological impediments to holiness, AND to subsequently  come alongside others more effectively as a loving outreach of Christ.

The name "Barnabas" comes from the person in the Bible who was widely known and respected as an encourager.  Among many others, Barnabas came alongside the apostle, Paul, when he was discouraged and was used by God to help Paul gain acceptance among the other apostles and followers of Christ.

In the same way our goal is to come alongside weary or  wounded individuals and encourage them while helping them to move forward in personal holiness and in overcoming obstacles in horizontal ministry opportunities.

There are a number of options for implementing Barnabas   Ministry: we can do the training (all or parts) for you; we can provide the materials that guide you through the process and allow you to begin and lead a small group; we can assist you to do it; we can train you to do it; we can be involved behind the scenes; we can be involved in a supervisory or consultative manner; we can be involved in a variety of other supportive but participative ways - all depending on what works best for your situation.
