Barnabas Ministry

Barnabas Ministry is an independent, interdenominational, multi-dimensional, multi-faceted people-helping, educational and discipleship operation that encourages, educates, trains, coaches, counsels, consults and equips individuals, relationships, churches and businesses. As the name implies, it is designed to equip others (leaders, managers, peers, friends, family or church members) to come alongside people experiencing a variety of personal, relational, business and professional needs in a manner that is effective and caring.

Barnabas for the Church is an intensive and extensive training program to equip encouragers and lay counselors for the work of the church and the needs of its people. It also teaches how to reach people who are wounded and needy - or who are experiencing wounding life circumstances - and how to minister effectively to and through the local church community at the primary relational level of its people.

Church Counseling & Consultation allows assessment, mediation and/or intervention for church and clergy matters including personal and professional issues and/or operational matters of dispute, disagreement or discontent. Additionally, assessment can be done to detect and repair potential problems before they create problems or further problems.

Professional Business Counseling is designed to help businesses help their people, relationships, performance and productivity, and thereby overcome potential or existing problems that also hurt (or threaten to hurt) the business.

B4B Crisis Intervention is designed to provide immediate response to individuals or situations - at work or at home - requiring quick and intensive evaluation, mediation and/or intervention. It is a hurricane disaster team for personal and/or relational distress.

The name "Barnabas" comes from the person in the Bible who was widely known and respected as an encourager. Among many others, Barnabas came alongside the apostle, Paul, when he was discouraged and was used by God to help Paul gain acceptance among the other apostles and followers of Christ.

In the same way our goal is to come alongside weary or wounded individuals and encourage them while helping them to move forward in overcoming obstacles thereby reaching their goals.

*Research has long demonstrated and documented, in the treatment of behavioral health, that the most efficacious treatment for a large number of problems consists of the simultaneous application of psychological therapy and medical services. Additionally there are a number of medical problems that contain psychological dimensions or clinical accompaniments. In fact, it might be better to say that we further approach problems from a perspective that additionally factors in a deep appreciation for the individual's spiritual values and subsequent life choices. Barnabas Medical-Behavioral Healthcare provides clinical care from such an inter-disciplinary perspective understanding the mind-body duality while also respecting a bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach.

All therapists are not equal. Many times the public assumes that they are. Regrettably we have witnessed too many occasions wherein a well-meaning but insufficiently trained counselor worked with such specialized patients in, at best, an unhelpful manner, or, at worst, an injurious manner without that counselor's knowledge of same. Subsequently the patient (and perhaps the referring provider) tends to give up or to feel that such an approach to life's problems has nothing more to offer when there is, in fact, much yet that can be done. When clients can't get helped elsewhere they do get helped here. Why not just start here? We will help you - and the sooner the better!
